tender growth: blooming beyond harm and nurturing safer spaces ZINE BY NIKKI BASSETT & KATE LAHEY
nikki a basset and kate lahey will be offering a workshop, “tender growth: blooming beyond harm and nurturing safer spaces”, at thunder & lightening in sackville, nb on april 27. as part of this collaborative project, nikki & kate are making a zine that compiles your questions! these questions will guide our conversation during the workshop.
we are asking folks to submit questions on the topic of harm, healing and safer spaces in the arts in atlantic canada. where do you see harm in our arts communities? where do you see care? do you have questions about what safer spaces means, how we create them and how we build more accessible communities? maybe you run a music festival, are an artist, a concert goer or a venue owner. maybe you write grants, are bar staff, or have felt excluded or harmed in arts spaces. we want to hear how safety, harm, care and community impact YOUR relationship with the arts.
the intention of archiving these questions is to create space for shared experiences, to invite participation, to engage folks to think about the questions and problems affecting their communities, and to act as guiding questions during our workshop.
this zine will be published and printed by nikki & kate. it will be distributed to workshop participants and available for sale online. those who submit questions will be invited to remain anonymous or have their name shared and published with their question. not all questions will be published.
